✓ Day 1: Arrival — ANTANANARIVO: Welcome to Madagascar!
Your adventure begins upon landing at Ivato International Airport! After completing entry formalities and obtaining your visa, our friendly representative will welcome you and take you to your hotel. After some instructions and details about the exciting journey ahead, you’ll have the rest of the day free to relax and enjoy the hotel’s amenities.
✓ Day 2: ANTANANARIVO — ANTSIRABE: City of Water

After enjoying a delicious breakfast, we embark on an exciting journey to Antsirabe, known as the “City of Water,” located 170 km south of the capital. Along the picturesque route, you’ll witness scenic rice fields and characteristic landscapes of the Malagasy highlands. We’ll make a stop in Ambatolampy to explore a small artisanal aluminum factory, essential in crafting the iconic Malagasy cooking pots.
Upon reaching Antsirabe, a charming colonial city, you’ll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in its rich history and culture. If time allows, we’ll explore some local craft workshops, discovering the skills and creativity of the talented artisans in the region. An authentic experience that will enrich our journey before returning to the hotel to relax and reflect on the wonders of the day.
✓ Day 3: ANTSIRABE — BETAFO — AMBOSITRA: Craftsmanship and Culture

After enjoying a delicious breakfast, we head towards Betafo, a large village renowned for its imposing brick houses dating back to the colonial era. Located 22 km west of Antsirabe, this typical village inhabited by the Merina ethnic group stands out for its unique architecture, characterized by arcades and decorative ironwork.
In Betafo, we delve into the history and culture of this place through a day hike that takes us through its fields and rice paddies. During this enriching experience, you’ll have the opportunity to observe closely the daily routine of farmers, learn about their habits and customs, and appreciate the authenticity of Malagasy rural life.
In the afternoon, we return to Antsirabe and then continue our journey to Ambositra, carrying with us the memories lived in Betafo and anticipating the new experiences that await us on this fascinating route.
✓ Day 4: AMBOSITRA — RANOMAFANA: Exploring Tropical Forests

Ambositra, renowned for its extraordinary marquetry and exquisite carvings in precious wood, invites us to delve into the craftsmanship of the Zafimaniry workshops that have forged the city’s reputation. This day is dedicated to exploring these famous workshops, where skilled artisans create unique pieces with traditional techniques passed down through generations. We seize the opportunity to acquire authentic souvenirs, carrying with us the exceptional craftsmanship of Ambositra.
After immersing ourselves in the cultural richness of the city, we bid farewell to the highlands of Madagascar and embark on an exciting journey to Ranomafana. This journey marks our entry into the lush areas of primary rainforest that define the island’s east coast. The changing landscape promises new experiences as we head towards the next stage of our unforgettable journey through Madagascar.
✓ Day 5: RANOMAFANA — FIANARANTSOA: Markets and Scenic Landscapes

The morning is reserved for a fascinating excursion into the heart of Ranomafana’s tropical forest. This national park was established in 1991, marked by the discovery of the Golden Bamboo Lemur, an endemic lemur that feeds on bamboo leaves. Currently, the park is home to 12 lemur species, including those considered rare, such as the Flat-faced Bamboo Lemur and the Golden Bamboo Lemur.
Ranomafana, enriched with exceptional biodiversity, serves as a habitat for a diverse fauna, including rare birds, amphibians, and reptiles. The diversity of its flora significantly contributes to its reputation. Unfortunately, many of these species are endangered. After this captivating visit, we resume the National Road 7 towards Fianarantsoa, the second-largest city in the south after Antananarivo. Fianarantsoa stands out for the originality of its old town, founded in 1830 and recognized as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site in 2003. After this day full of discoveries, we enjoy a brief rest at our accommodation, ready to continue our unforgettable journey through Madagascar.
✓ Day 6: FIANARANTSOA — RANOHIRA: Discovering Isalo National Park

After enjoying a delicious breakfast, we head towards Ranohira with a special stop in Ambalavao. This picturesque village hosts the second-largest cattle market in Madagascar, a unique experience taking place on Wednesday and Thursday mornings. Ambalavao is also famous for its artisanal production of Antemoro paper, handcrafted from the bark of a bush called Avoha, as well as the manufacturing of Madagascar’s wild silk fabrics. The visit to these local workshops is included in our program, providing us with a fascinating insight into the unique craftsmanship of the region.
We continue our journey with a highlighted stop at the Anja Community Reserve, located 15 km south of Ambalavao. Managed by the local community, this reserve offers a unique opportunity to observe the daily life of several colonies of Ring-tailed Lemurs cohabiting in the area. In addition to lemurs, we can discover other species of endemic fauna and flora thriving in their natural environment. After this enriching experience, we continue our journey to finally reach Ranohira.
✓ Day 7: RANOHIRA: Exploring the Wonders of Isalo
This day is reserved for the amazing experience of discovering Isalo National Park. Established in 1960 as a simple protected area, it was officially designated as a national park in 1999. This majestic sandstone massif, dating back to the Jurassic period, stands as one of the most impressive landscapes in Madagascar.
In Isalo, an extraordinary diversity of fauna coexists, spanning birdlife, rock reptiles, primates, and unique and endemic flora of the region, including pachypodium, aloe, and euphorbia. The park offers various circuit options, tailored to the duration of the visit and the available time. Throughout this adventure, we explore the various cultures of the Bara ethnic group, evidenced by several sacred sites and tombs within the park. Every step is an opportunity to immerse ourselves in the richness of this unique environment.
✓ Day 8: RANOHIRA — TOLIARA: Journey Through the Savanna

We start the day with an early departure towards Toliara, immersing ourselves in the picturesque savannah plains. The entrance of the iconic southern baobabs marks a notable transition in the landscape, offering a stunning view of Madagascar’s natural beauty. As we progress, charming villages dot our path, and their residents welcome us with the characteristic warmth of Malagasy hospitality. Each stop reveals the authenticity of daily life, providing a window into the traditions and cultural richness of the region. Upon reaching Toliary, we take some time for a brief tour of this historic fishing village. Its charming streets tell stories of the past, while we absorb the essence of current life and the hospitality of its inhabitants. Every corner reveals the unique fusion of Toliary’s history and present.
✓ Day 9: TOLIARA — ANAKAO: Sea Adventure

After a delicious breakfast, we head to the pier to start an exciting speedboat journey to Anakao. We’ll enjoy panoramic views during the approximately 2.5-hour marine journey, immersing ourselves in the beauty of the ocean. Upon arrival, each participant is free to organize their afternoon according to their preferences. Anakao, known for its paradisiacal beaches, invites us to engage in a variety of water activities, from admiring fascinating underwater scenery to fully enjoying the warm beach sand.
Additional Option – Excursion to Nosy Be.
For those seeking a unique experience, a visit to Nosy Ve, a small island off Anakao with a history linked to the slave trade, is an intriguing option. Here, among other wonders, resides the rare bird known as Paille en Queue or Phaethon Rubricauda, adding a special touch to our day.
This day offers the perfect combination of marine exploration, beach relaxation, and the opportunity to discover the unique history of the region!
✓ Day 10: ANAKAO — ITAMPOLO — Visit of Tsimanampetsotse National Park

We embark on a journey of about 4 hours that takes us from the charming village of Anakao to the idyllic corner of Itampolo. This picturesque village, located almost 140 km south of Anakao, welcomes us with an exceptionally beautiful beach, an invitation to enjoy coastal serenity.
Additional Option – Stop at Tsimanampetsotse National Park.
Just 56 km south of Anakao, we explore Tsimanampetsotse National Park. For two fascinating hours, we discover the unique habitat of the blind fish Typhleotris Madagascariensis, pink flamingos, and other unique species of fauna and flora endemic to the area. During the whale season, spanning from July to mid-September, we marvel at the majesty of these creatures playing in the perfect blue ocean. In case of visiting the village on a Friday, we have the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the bustling and colorful local market, ensuring a relaxing afternoon full of cultural discoveries.
This day offers a perfect blend of natural wonder, local culture, and the magic of the ocean in Southern Madagascar!
✓ Day 11: ITAMPOLO — LAVANONO: Beaches and Surf

We embark on a day filled with visual wonders as we travel the picturesque roads that reveal the incomparable beauty of Southern Madagascar. Strategic stops will allow us to interact with the friendly local residents and immerse ourselves in their simplicity and cultural pride. Upon arrival, we take a well-deserved break at our cozy hotel, located in this remote corner. Formerly accessible only by sea, Lavanono has retained its unique charm and reputation as one of the best surfing destinations in Madagascar. In the afternoon, it’s time to explore the magnificent beach. We delight in the vast stretch of Lavanono Beach, extending over several kilometers. The warm waters caressing the coast throughout the year create a welcoming atmosphere, making this place a coastal paradise. A perfect afternoon to relax and appreciate the serenity of the surroundings.

✓ Day 12: LAVANONO — Exploring Cape Sainte Marie
After breakfast, we head towards Cape Sainte Marie, recognized as one of the most picturesque coastal destinations in Madagascar. This enclave offers endless opportunities for water sports. Additionally, it provides the possibility to marvel at the magnificent spectacle of whales, which pass through this area between August and November. Cape Sainte Marie also hosts the main habitat of an extensive family of radiated tortoises, with approximately 3,000 tortoises of this species per square kilometer in the region.
✓ Day 13: LAVANONO – BERENTY: Berenty Private Reserve

This day, we will dedicate most of the day to traveling the roads. Of course, we will make brief stops to rest and recharge. Along the way, we’ll take the opportunity to engage in conversations with local residents—people of admirable simplicity, full of pride and always willing to offer help in any circumstance.
✓ Day 14: BERENTY – FORT DAUPHIN: Visit to Andohahela National Park

After breakfast, we resume our journey towards Fort Dauphin. On the way, we make an essential stop at Andohahela National Park, the only green lung in the southern region of the island. Here, we embark on a brief but fascinating tour to discover the 12 lemur species that share their habitat with an exquisite variety of avian fauna, reptiles, and amphibians, all adapted to unique and endemic vegetation.
After this enriching experience, we have just 40 kilometers left to reach Fort Dauphin. Upon arrival, we settle comfortably into our accommodation, where the rest of the day is dedicated to relaxing and enjoying the hotel’s facilities. However, those eager to explore the city will find options for excursions and small tours organized by the hotel, offering a charming introduction to local charms.
✓ Day 15: FORT DAUPHIN: Excursion to Lokaro Bay
After breakfast, we embark early on an exciting day to the picturesque Lokaro Bay. Here, a day of total relaxation awaits us in this exceptional and unparalleled place. Surrounded by the serenity of the surroundings and natural beauties, we will have the opportunity to rest and immerse ourselves in the authenticity of this special corner. In the afternoon, we return to Fort Dauphin, where the rest of the day is at our disposal, allowing us to enjoy the city’s charms at our own pace or relax in our comforts.
✓ Day 16: FORT DAUPHIN – ANTANANARIVO

We have breakfast and head promptly to the airport to take the return flight to Antananarivo. Upon landing, we will be warmly welcomed at the airport and comfortably transferred to our hotel. Depending on the schedule, there is the possibility of organizing a final exploration in the lively craft market, giving us the opportunity to acquire unique souvenirs before concluding our unforgettable adventure.
✓ Day 17: ANTANANARIVO – DEPARTURE: Farewell to Madagascar and Return Home
International flight
After enjoying a delicious breakfast, we have the option to explore the city of Antananarivo depending on the available time. Our visit will include the upper part of the city, where the Queen’s Palace is located, which suffered a fire in 1995 and is currently undergoing restoration. We will delve into the rich history of the city by exploring monuments and remnants from the royal and colonial era, located in the same neighborhood, as well as the lively local markets.
