We will cover 145 km in approximately 4 to 4.5 hours to explore the eastern region of the island. We will make a brief stop in Marozevo to visit the private reserve of Peyrieras or Madagascar Exotique, founded by entomologist Andr\u00e9 Peyrieras. This reserve offers a fascinating introduction to Malagasy fauna, including reptiles, geckos, amphibians, butterflies, lemurs, and especially chameleons. After a visit to Moramanga for lunch, we will continue 30 km further to reach Andasibe. In the afternoon, we will enjoy a stroll through the village after settling into our rooms.<\/p>

This day promises rich exploration in nature. In the morning, we will venture into Analamazaotra National Park in search of the majestic indri-indri, the largest and emblematic lemur of Madagascar. Analamazaotra stands out as the most accessible park to spot this rare and endangered species. Patience will be key as we follow the tracks of these fascinating primates through the dense tropical forest.<\/p>

In addition to searching for the indri-indri, the lush vegetation of the park is home to 11 other lemur species, such as Eulemur fulvus, Avahi laniger, Eulemur rubriventer, and Varecia variegata. Our first stop in Behenjy, located 42 km south of Antananarivo, provides an opportunity to taste the exquisite Malagasy foie gras, a palate pleasure. The journey includes the exciting crossing of a famous ferry for about 45 minutes, finally reaching the village of Belo Sur Tsiribihina. After satisfying our appetite, we continue with determination, as the second half of the journey still awaits us. We navigate the Manambolo River and reach Bekopaka by late afternoon.<\/p>

Today we dedicate ourselves to the fascinating discovery of the Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park, one of the most amazing and photographed landscapes on the island. Early in the morning, we depart from the hotel and head to the park entrance, located 17 km north of the village of Bekopaka. This vast Bemaraha park covers an area of 150,000 hectares.<\/p>

The southeastern part of the park offers a panoramic visit to the Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park, where multiple circuit options allow us to explore this mountainous landscape of limestone formations. We continue our journey to Ranohira, and as we progress, the charming villages along the way reveal the authenticity of local life. Before reaching Ranohira, we pass through Ilakaka, the sapphire capital, whose explosive development began after the discovery of the precious mineral in 1998. Currently, this place hosts one of the world’s largest sapphire deposits. With only 27 km left to reach Ranohira, we prepare to enter the next stage of our fascinating journey.<\/p>

This day is reserved for the astonishing experience of discovering Isalo National Park. Its creation in 1960 as a simple protected area preceded its official designation as a national park in 1999. This majestic sandstone massif, dating back to the Jurassic period, stands as one of the most impressive landscapes in Madagascar.<\/p>

In Isalo, an extraordinary diversity of fauna coexists, including birdlife, rock reptiles, primates, and a unique and endemic flora of the region, including pachypodium, aloe, and euphorbia. The park offers various circuit options, adapted to the duration of the visit and the available time. We have breakfast before embarking on our journey to Ranomafana. Our first stop on the way will be at the famous Anja Private Reserve, located 15 km south of Ambalavao. This community-managed enclave offers an exceptional opportunity to get up close to the daily life of various colonies of Catta lemurs, sharing their habitat with other endemic species of flora and fauna.<\/p>

We continue our journey to Ambalavao, a lively town where, if we coincide with market days (Wednesday and Thursday mornings), we will witness the second-largest zebu market in Madagascar, after Tsiroanomandidy. Ambalavao is also known for its craftsmanship, highlighting the production of Antemoro paper, handmade with the bark of the Avoha bush, as well as the weaving of Madagascar’s wild silk fabrics. Our visit will include these workshops to immerse ourselves in local traditions.<\/p>

After about an hour’s drive, we continue our journey through Fianarantsoa, one of the largest cities in southern Madagascar. If time allows, we will explore the upper part of the city, distinguished by its originality. Founded in 1830, Fianarantsoa was declared a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site in 2003. Finally, we will reach Ranomafana towards the end of the afternoon, ready to immerse ourselves in the richness of this natural environment.<\/p>

The faunal richness of Ranomafana includes numerous birds, unusual amphibian and reptile species, as well as a varied flora that contributes to its renown. Unfortunately, many of these species are endangered.<\/p>

After immersing ourselves in the biodiversity of Ranomafana, we will resume National Road 7, continuing our journey to Ambositra. This city stands out as the capital of marquetry and precious wood carvings. In Ambositra, we will explore the craftmanship of the locals in creating wonderful works of art in wood. The afternoon will provide an opportunity to immerse ourselves in the rich culture and traditions of this artistic center before recharging for the upcoming adventures.<\/p>

Upon arrival, we will have valuable time to make final purchases, explore the final charms of the city, and conclude our journey with a distinctive cultural touch.
